AA to provide glass repair and replacement service for motorists

DRAFT Media Release: 29 April 2010

The AA has announced that it has established a joint business venture, AA Auto Glass, to provide a vehicle glass repair and replacement service.

AA Auto Glass will provide three types of service:

• a free emergency temporary side-glass window repair for AA Members, undertaken by AA RoadService Officers at the road side;

• a chip and crack windscreen repair service, undertaken by AA Vehicle Inspectors, and some AA Auto Service & Repair and Licensed Repairer sites; and

• the complete replacement of windscreens and windows; undertaken by a contracted provider;

There will also be a number of dedicated mobile vehicles provided in Auckland, which can travel to local members for glass repairs.

John Tutt, General Manager of AA Auto Glass, says “this is an excellent opportunity to build on the already extensive range of services the AA provides its Members and New Zealand motorists.”

“Our staff are well placed to spot potential glass problems and offer motorists the necessary assistance.

“We are very proud that the New Zealand Automobile Association is the first in the world to offer a free temporary side glass repair service for its Members.”

The AA’s business partner in the joint venture is the Australian company, Club Assist. The AA has had a business relationship with Club Assist for nearly 10 years through the AA Battery Service product.

The chip and crack repair service costs $80 for Members and $85 for non-Members. The cost to completely replace windscreens and windows depends on the make and model of the vehicle.
